Cavernous hemangioma of the saphenous nerve

Abstract
Cavernous hemangioma of peripheral nerves are very infrequent infiltrative vascular lesions, with only a few case reports on the literature. We submit the case of a female patient with a saphenous nerve tumor lesion, in which ultrasound-guided excision was performed, and the sample was evaluated by pathologist who confirmed the diagnosis of cavernous hemangioma. Although these lesions are uncommon, they should be considered among the differential diagnoses of soft tissue lesions located along the anatomical course of peripheral nerves. While total resection is curative, depending on the nerve involved, subtotal excision may be considered to avoid secondary neurological deficits, although with a high risk of recurrence.
