Más allá de la hemiatrofia: Manifestaciones esquizofrénicas tipo catatónicas en pacientes con síndrome de Dyke-Davidoff-Masson

Resumo
El síndrome de Dyke-Davidoff-Masson (DDMS) es una entidad neurológica rara caracterizada por atrofia cerebral unilateral, frecuentemente asociada con manifestaciones motoras y epilepsia. Aunque su correlación con trastornos psiquiátricos ha sido poco estudiada, se han documentado casos aislados de esquizofrenia en pacientes con DDMS. En este artículo se presentan cuatro casos clínicos de pacientes pediátricos diagnosticados con DDMS, tres de ellos con epilepsia y todos con manifestaciones compatibles con esquizofrenia. Se discute la posible relación neurobiológica entre las alteraciones estructurales cerebrales del DDMS y el desarrollo de psicosis, subrayando la importancia de un abordaje interdisciplinario para su diagnóstico y manejo. Este reporte pretende aportar evidencia adicional sobre la asociación entre DDMS y esquizofrenia, y destacar la necesidad de un seguimiento neuropsiquiátrico a largo plazo.
